Recognized as one of the country’s leading franchise investors, Scott’s operating and investing career includes over 20 years of private equity, brand management and franchise expertise. Having invested in over 30 franchise businesses including Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Schlotzsky’s, McAlister’s Deli, Fastsigns, Cinnabon, and FOCUS Brands, he understands how to identify and scale successful emerging franchise concepts.
Scott was the co-founder of BIP Capital, a venture capital firm focused in a variety of industries including franchising, software, healthcare, media and financial services. Prior to BIP Capital, Scott was a partner at Roark Capital Group, where he was directly responsible for sourcing and closing multiple investments. Additionally, Scott held leadership roles with U.S. Franchise Systems, The Walt Disney Company and Dow Chemical USA.

Tom brings over 10 years of private equity experience investing in a variety of industries and branded businesses. He firmly believes that building a strong brand that resonates with customers is critical to the long-term success of a company.
Tom is on the franchise team at BIP Capital and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Tropical Smoothie Café and Tin Drum Asian Kitchen. Prior to joining BIP Capital, he worked for Century Park Capital Partners, a Los Angeles based private equity group focused on the lower middle market. Additionally, Tom previously worked in the San Francisco office of Harris Williams & Co, a leading middle market investment bank.

Richard has focused his career on advising and investing in franchise companies. He believes focusing on delivering repeatable and relevant value to the customer - whether through service, quality or experience - is a pillar to the long-term success and sustainability of brands.
Richard is on the franchise team at BIP Capital. Prior to BIP Capital Richard was an Associate at Argonne Capital Group where he invested in both private and public companies. Richard was a part of multiple franchise acquisitions and investment decisions around brands including On the Border, Potbelly, Planet Fitness, IHOP, John Deere and Krystal. Prior to Argonne Capital, Richard began his career at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey – SunTrust Bank’s investment banking division where he worked on transactions encompassing mergers and acquisitions and leveraged finance.

Mike Rotondo currently serves as CEO of Tropical Smoothie Café. Mike's distinguished career in franchising and foodservice spans three decades with brands like Arby's, Wendy's International, HoneyBaked Ham and now Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Under Mike's leadership, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has reported double-digit comp sales growth since 2013 and he has increased the system's AUV by nearly 58 percent over the last five years. He continues to drive sustainable growth for the brand through menu innovation and the development of a new restaurant prototype.
Mike's passion and commitment to the franchising industry is apparent in Tropical Smoothie Cafe's success, as well as his involvement in helping to grow newer franchise brands. Mike is an IFA Board Member, on the Board of Directors for Tropical Smoothie Cafe, LLC and on the Board of Directors of Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine.

Charles Watson is the Chief Development Officer for Tropical Smoothie Café. Charles is responsible for all aspects of Franchise Development, Real Estate, and Design & Construction. Under his leadership, the Tropical Smoothie Cafe system has grown from 265 open units to more than 625 open locations in five years.
A veteran franchise professional, Charles has worked for several hospitality-related companies including Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), US Franchise Systems, Inc. and Hospitality Real Estate Counselors (HREC). Charles is a graduate of The Hotel School at Cornell University (BS) and also holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from The Terry School of Business at The University of Georgia.
